Juan & Sharon London Weekend

8 & 9 March 2025

Juan Villafañe and Sharon Davis are back to teach a full Lindy Hop weekend in London on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th March 2025! This will be all new content, different to  the 2024 workshop.

Saturday is aimed at Intermediate and above level Lindy Hoppers. Saturday’s focus is artistic development & repertoire (think: cool moves & style advice!).

Sunday is aimed at Intermediate/Advanced and above level Lindy Hoppers. Sunday’s  focus is rhythm mastery, musical interpretation and advanced movement exploration.

Each session is 2.5 hours long (including a break in the middle).

There are four sessions in total (two on Saturday and two on Sunday), and different material will be taught in every session. You can join for one session, two, three or all four sessions. Get a discount if you sign up for all four.

The workshops are all being held at Deptford Lounge, 9 Giffin Street, Deptford, London SE8 4RJ.

Registration is open until 5pm on Thursday 6th March 2025. You can book as an individual Leader or Follower, but if you can, please help us keep a good Leader/Follower balance by booking as a couple (and get a big discount as a thank you!). We will be rotating partners in class, so booking together is only for registration purposes.

What is the

Level?

Class levels are subjective and hard to describe, but here’s some ideas that might mean this is the right workshop for you:

Saturday: Intermediate and above

  • You have learned all your 6-count, 8-count and Lindy Charleston fundamentals, and you are confident mixing them on the social dancefloor.
  • Your triple-steps are feeling good.
  • You are comfortable to dance at a variety of tempos up to 160 beats per minute (this song for example) or even faster.
  • In particular, you MUST know your Swing Outs (aka Lindy Turn) and Lindy Circles to take this workshop, no exceptions.
  • Here are some examples of classic moves that you hopefully already know as well: Tuck Turn, Pass By, Send Out, Side-by-Side Charleston, Skip Ups, etc.

Sunday: Intermediate/Advanced and above

  • You have probably been dancing for a number of years and probably taken part in other workshops.
  • You are a confident social dancer and happy Swinging Out to a variety of tempos up to at least 180bpm (this song for example).
  • You know all your 6-count, 8-count and Lindy Charleston fundamentals, and have an expanding repertoire beyond these.
  • Your Swing Outs (aka Lindy Turns) and Lindy Circles are comfortable and you already know a number of different footwork variations and styles (including swivels for followers).
  • You probably also have some experience with solo jazz and you know your Shim Sham.
  • Here are some examples of classic moves that you hopefully already know: Swing Out, Lindy Circle, Tuck Turn, Pass By, Send Out, Promenade, Promenot, Side-by-Side Charleston, Skip Ups, Frankie Sixes, Texas Tommy, Pop Turns, Tandem Charleston, Points, Barrel Rolls, Cuddle/Basket, Hand-to-Hand Charleston, Jig Walks, Sailor Kicks, Sugar Pushes, Minnie Dip, Switches, Quick Stop.
  • We hope you are looking to challenge yourself with advanced connection, challenging moves, sweet rhythms, musicality and style.
